What is confirmed directly: the site runs the same privacy-notice and opt-out-notice template language as several other people-search sites in this space, down to identical section numbering and near-identical wording, though it publishes its own distinct phone number, (855) 240-6392, and its own working opt-out form, which is not shared with any other site checked for this guide.

The site displays this disclaimer in its footer: "AdvancedBackgroundChecks is not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Information provided may not be used to determine eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, housing, or any other purpose covered by the FCRA." Its Terms of Service separately prohibit using the site to evaluate anyone's eligibility for credit, employment, housing, or a government license or benefit. What Opting Out Does Not Do

The company's privacy notice states that its products "use publicly available information, which is not covered by U.S. state privacy laws," and that an opt-out request is applied to that public-record data "as a courtesy," not as a legal removal from the original source. It adds: "we regularly receive new public records so even if you opt out, your publicly available information may appear in our Data Products again in the future," and recommends refreshing the opt-out periodically.

That courtesy framing covers the public-record directory listing. The company's separate Notice of Right to Opt-Out is written against statute, naming "the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, Oregon Consumer Privacy Act, Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, and other similar laws," so the sale-and-sharing side of the opt-out rests on those state privacy laws rather than on company goodwill alone.

California Residents: Check the CPPA Registry First

California's DROP platform routes deletion requests only to data brokers registered with the California Privacy Protection Agency, and registered brokers have had to process DROP requests since August 1, 2026.
