New Brunswick's Program Is the Newest in Canada

New Brunswick's Unclaimed Property Act was proclaimed on January 1, 2022, years after British Columbia (1999), Alberta (2008), and Quebec's current-form program (2011). The Financial and Consumer Services Commission, New Brunswick's financial and consumer regulator, administers the resulting program and runs its public registry, FundsFinderNB.

Holders of property covered by the Act are required to report it annually to FCNB and to take reasonable steps to locate the rightful owner before remitting the property to the program. Property that reaches FCNB unclaimed vests with the Commission's unclaimed-property program.
